
NORMAL, Ill. – The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, scored all of their runs on two homers in a 4-2 win over the Gateway Grizzlies on Saturday night at the Corn Crib.
The Grizzlies brought a lead-off walk to Rolando Gomez around to score in the third inning on a stolen base, error and fielder’s choice by Cody Livesay, who moved to third and scored on a sacrifice fly to center field by Ben Waldrip for a 2-0 lead.
The CornBelters grabbed the lead in the bottom half of the third frame with a three-run homer to right center by Aaron Dudley with two outs. Cameron Monger clubbed a solo home run to the left field berm with two outs in the seventh inning for a 4-2 advantage.
Robert Baroniel (1-1) worked five innings for the win while Race Parmenter pitched the ninth inning for his 12th save. Gateway starter Dillon Haviland (0-1) took the loss in his professional debut.
The home stand concludes with a 3:05 p.m. first pitch on Sunday as right-handers take the mound, Kevin Johnson (4-2, 3.43 ERA) for Normal and Trevor Richards (2-4, 3.61) for Gateway.
