Ruth E. Stubblefield, 93, of Stanford, passed away at 10:03 p.m., July 31 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Home in Chenoa.
Her funeral will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, with Rev. Chad Sparks officiating. Burial will be in Funks Grove Cemetery, Funks Grove. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covell Community Church or Dale Township Fire Department.

Ruth was born April 20, 1922 in Bloomington, a daughter of William Harris and Otilda Gingerich Deal. She married Price J. Stubblefield on Sep. 7, 1941 at Danvers. He preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 2004.
Surviving are her son, Dennis (Jane) Stubblefield, DVM of Rantoul and their children, Becky (Shane) Franklin, David (Brandy) Stubblefield and Sarah (Eric) Stoliker ; her son, Larry Stubblefield of Heyworth and his children, Dawn (Eric) Rhoda and Krista (Dwayne) Leach; ten great-grandchildren, Jacob, Cooper, Quentin, Sam, Brooke, Tyler, Alex, Ryan, Jeni and Jeffrey.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Ruth and her husband farmed throughout their married life and she cherished her role as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved dancing and spending time with her friends and family.
Ruth, known as Tommy, was a friend to everyone she met. Her kind spirit and quick laugh brought joy to all. She will be dearly missed.
Steven Curry
Steven E. Curry, 60, of Bloomington passed away on July 30 at 11:16 a.m. in Bloomington at Arba Care Center.
His funeral service will be at noon at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington on Thursday with Rev Val Powe officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon on Thursday also at the memorial home. The family will have a repass at Knights of Columbus, 1706 RT Dunn Drive in Bloomington immediately following the service.
Cremation rites will be accorded following the service and there will be a private family inurnment at a later date in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family in Steven’s name.
Steven was born Oct. 1, 1954, in Bloomington a son to Samuel and Agnes (Miller) Curry. Steven graduated from high school in Bloomington and never married.
He leaves behind one daughter, Temeria Olabode, four grandchildren, and one great grandson to cherish his memory. He is also survived by two brothers, Ronald (Willie) Curry and Reginald (Rhonda) Curry, and three sisters, Joyce (Timothy) Johnson, Judith Johnson, and Kathy Gant. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will cherish Steven’s memory as well.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, mother, a brother, and a grandchild.
He was employed at GMO Railroad and the Bloomington Country Club in Bloomington. Over the years he also worked as a laborer for several local companies.
Steven enjoyed spending time with family and friends while enjoying life. We all love and will miss him dearly.

Margaret “Margie” E. Vertin, 72, of Bloomington, passed away in the very early hours the morning of Aug. 2, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m on Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bloomington, with Rev. Ric Schneider, OFM officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. A private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. She was born Feb. 15, 1943 in Bloomington, daughter of Thomas and Margaret Rodgers Kasher. She married Paul J. Vertin on Aug. 29, 1970 in Bloomington.
Surviving are her husband, Paul; daughters, Katie (David) Deneen, Bloomington, Mary (Todd) Hill, South Bend, IN, Susie (Matt) Johnson, Bloomington, Bridget (John) Barnett, Stavanger, Norway and Sarah (Stephen) Pilcher, Bloomington. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Meg, Ellie and Christy Deneen, Anna and Brody Hill, Teddy, Penny and Libby Johnson, Levi and Henry Barnett, Thomas, Abby and Bridget Pilcher and her brother, Tom (Mary Carol) Kasher, Bloomington.
Margie graduated from Trinity High School in 1961 and Illinois State University in 1965. She taught school in North Aurora, IL from 1965 to 1970.
She was an active member and officer of Holy Trinity/Saint Clare grade schools and Central Catholic High School parents’ clubs, along with donating her time to Meals on Wheels, Faith in Action and St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Margie enjoyed world traveling with her husband, Paul, winters in Sanibel, FL, reading, water aerobics, along with spending time with family and friends, and especially “making fond memories” with her thirteen grandchildren.
