BLOOMINGTON – The St. Louis Cardinals conclude their three-game series with the Chicago Cubs when they meet at Wrigley Field. The pregame show starts at 12:25 p.m. on WJBC 1230 AM with the first pitch at 1:20 p.m.
Carlos Martinez, who pitched perhaps his best game of the season in his last outing, opposes Jon Lester. Martinez is 13-7 with a 3.02 earned run average, while Lester is 10-10 with a 3.38 ERA.
After giving up three or more runs in six consecutive starts, Martinez allowed one run and struck out nine in eight innings in a victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in his last outing.
Lester pitched his first complete game of the season in a win over Pittsburgh in his last outing. He allowed five hits and struck out nine. He has a 1-2 record and a 1.78 earned run average in four starts against the Cardinals this year.
Sunday Night Football kicks off at 6:30 with the pregame show before the Green Bay Packers entertain Seattle at 7 p.m.
