NORMAL – United Auto Workers and Mitsubishi Motors face another midnight deadline on a contract as the plant faces a shutdown.
Officials with the UAW Local 2488 hosted a meeting on Sunday to update membership on the status of contract talks which reportedly showed progress last week as a strike authorization vote was suspended. No word on the status of those talks now.
The plant plans to stop production on Nov. 30 and to be shut down by May. A task force is looking to find another use for the plant.
