BLOOMINGTON – The Bloomington City Council is going to hold a work session Monday to prioritize budget cuts in advance of next year’s projected $7.3 million deficit.
Finance Director Patti Lynn Silva will present an update on how the 2016 budget has been implemented so far.
“(The 2016) budget was adopted to reflect a little bit of a holding pattern,” Silva said. “Just get it done and then wait for the policymakers that are coming in (with the 2015 municipal election), which could have been a majority, to affect things going forward.”
Silva says the budget is still balanced a quarter of the way through the year, but it’s not sustainable for next year.
The council will also examine the Budget Task Force’s recommendations from last month during the work session Monday.
