NORMAL – Heartland Community College is now offering a second Joe McCauley art scholarship. A fundraiser was held Oct. 22 and art professor Jane Camp said the college was able to raise more than the $3,000 needed to endow a second scholarship. Camp said the deadline to apply for next year is March 1.
“It goes to the foundation and a selection committee based on an essay and their artwork,” Camp said. “Now we can give two of those out each year and that money can be used for tuition, fees or art supplies.”
The scholarship is worth $500 per year. It’s named after art professor Joe McCauley, who was murdered in 2009.
