BLOOMINGTON – The Market Street railroad bridge project on Bloomington’s west side has been delayed yet again.
The work first began March 30 and Public Works Director Jim Karch said it’s been an inconvenience for the area.
“With the number of vehicles that travel along Market to get to downtown, it not only impacts just residents coming into Bloomington, there’s also businesses along Market Street corridor that are significantly impacted,” Karch said.
Karch said the project does appear to be nearly done.
“The general contractor for the Union Pacific (Railroad) did let the city know that they are looking to have this completed by next week,” said Karch. “While there was a flurry of work here in the last couple weeks, they’re really, right now, just finishing up traffic signal work, some sidewalk work.”
Construction was first tabbed for completion in June.
