BLOOMINGTON – Music, food, and family is not how some members of the think of the holiday season.
It’s called the Blue Christmas worship service and Reverend Christine McNeal of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington said they are reaching out to the lonely in the Bloomington-Normal community who may not be filled with joy during the holidays.
“It is a time of presence to allow the presence of God to surround the hurting and the depressed and those feeling lonely,” said McNeal. “(It also serves) those who don’t feel like they have a family or celebration.”
The service starts at 2 p.m. December 6th. The church is located in Bloomington on East Emerson Street.
