BLOOMINGTON – Two men who police say were involved in a multi-state credit card scam are being brought up on identity theft and other charges in McLean County court while a third suspect has not been captured.
The two Cuban nationals, Yoan Pequeno, 31, of Miami, and Santiago Peralta, 23, of Jacksonville, allegedly worked with a third defendant Lisbany Cardenas, 30, of Miami, on a scam in which they obtained ‘cloned’ credit cards to try to buy prepaid Visa cards at Sam’s Club stores in Normal, Champaign and Joliet and convert them to cash in October.
Pequeno and Peralta are being held in the McLean County Jail on bond of $500,000 each. Cardenas posted bond in Champaign County last month and there’s a warrant out for his arrest in McLean County.
