BLOOMINGTON – The United Way of McLean County’s annual campaign has raised $2.8 million since it began in August.
The organization hopes to raise $790,000 more before the campaign ends in January. Marketing and Communications Manager Ali Seys said every little bit helps.
“It’s great that we can say we’ve raised $2.8 million and that the community has stepped up so far, but we still have a long ways to go. There’s still seven weeks left in the campaign,” said Seys. “We really hope the community continues to rise to the challenge of helping their own.”
The United Way has a goal of bringing in enough money to provide an additional 8 percent in funding this year to the programs it supports.
“With everything going on with the state budget, and other things in the community, we’ve already seen an increase in demand for funds for programs,” said Seys. “With the increase in need, we know that there’s an increase in need from United Way.”
The United Way helps provide resources to over 60 programs and initiatives managed by 31 local organizations.
Donations by individuals can be made at uwaymc.org, by calling the United Way at (309) 828-7383, or dropping off a donation at the United Way office at 201 E. Grove St, Bloomington. Results from the campaign will be announced at a reception on Jan. 21, 2016.
