BLOOMINGTON – The Salvation Army of McLean County needs the community’s help as it pushes towards the final weeks of its Red Kettle campaign.
So far, $110,811 has been raised. The goal is $230,000.
“We’re confident that the community will step up and help us, but (we) certainly want everyone to consider throwing a little extra in the kettles as they pass it this weekend,” said Director of Development Angie Fulton. “Just so we can make sure that we hit that goal by Christmas Eve.”
Fulton added the overall Christmas campaign, which includes mail-in and online donations, is at $184,820. The hope is to bring in $480,000.
“(We) really need a big leap to get to that goal,” Fulton said.
Fulton explained it is especially important to reach the fundraising mark this year.
“We’re, kind of, expecting to see some increased need in the community. Certainly with Clare House closing we’ll see an increased need at our food pantry,” she said.
